Eddy Zheng: Thoughts from Behind & Beyond Bars

Eddy Zheng is facing deportation for criminal convictions from 20 years ago. He served 19+ years of a 7-to-life sentence for a robbery he committed at 16. After spending 2 years in immigration detention fighting his case, he lost. He awaits the execution of the deportation order. Peaceful Heart

The poet Hafiz once wrote that if he wants to touch God, he lifts his hand and kisses it.

When I want to maintain a peaceful heart, I think of the possibility of losing my ability to keeping my mind free. After all, freedom of mind supercedes physical freedom.

My heart is at peace.
