Eddy Zheng: Thoughts from Behind & Beyond Bars

Eddy Zheng is facing deportation for criminal convictions from 20 years ago. He served 19+ years of a 7-to-life sentence for a robbery he committed at 16. After spending 2 years in immigration detention fighting his case, he lost. He awaits the execution of the deportation order. Walking in Circles

When I was in prison, people would walk in circles counterclockwise on the yard. it's a symbolic way to defy the flow of time or the natural order.

Here I am in jail, and the detainees are also walking counterclockwise.

It's a universal defiant gesture to stay sane.
